Some history... |

Söderarm has been a lookout since medieval times. The lighthouse of Söderarm is located on the island Torskär, this is where one used to hunt seals and seabirds. In 1719 the Russians invaded the Roslagen archipelago. Söderarm sounded the alarm! In those days Söderarm only consisted of one lookout tower and some simple over night barracks. The present lighthouse was built in 1839 and up until 1997 the lighthouse was manned. Torskär is still military land but no longer a restricted area.
