On an old map it says “the south arm of the cape”

A beacon was built on Tollskäret
1719
The Russians invaded Sweden/Roslagen and the lookout on Söderarm sounded the alarm.
1760-talet
A lighthouse was planned on the island
1839
The lighthouse was completed and the first dwelling was built
1843
A second dwelling was built
1848
The first docking rails were installed
1877
A new dwelling was built for the lighthouse master
1882
The lighthouse was fitted with a silver coated parabolic reflectors and a kerosene lamp
1893
New docking ramps were installed
1900
The pilots arrived on the island
1903
The dwelling closest to the harbour was built = STILTJE
1909
The house of the lighthouse master was added
1927
The grey dwelling = BRIS was built
1928
The lighthouse tower was rebuilt and fitted with a Dalén light which automatically lit the lamp at nightfall and extinguished it at dawn
1937
The military started building their defence
1939 –1945
The bunker that today is our wood fired sauna was built, four barracks were built (two remains) to house the 200 men who were in a state of alert on the island for 1-3 years
1946 – 47
All dwellings were renovated and a laundry with bathroom was built
1952
Electricity was installed in the dwellings
1953
The lighthouse had electricity and a new lens assembly installed
1960 – 1970 - talen
The military built new constructions in the mountain
1970
The lighthouse was partially automated
1970-talet
The islands oldest house was torn down together with some larger outhouses
1978
The establishment was complemented with coast guards
1984 - 86
A new lookout tower was built on to the dwelling completed in 1843. Today’s premise main building = STORM
1997, sista september,
- The Swedish maritime administrations last day on the island. Same year as the land was no longer classified a restricted area

Söderarm AB started renovating to set up a conference premises
1999 i oktober
The old lighthouse lamp was taken out and replaced by a lantern on a stand
2000
was the first actual year of operation for the conference centre that exists today
Summer 2000
The old bunker was refurbished into a wood fired sauna

The last time the Söderarm battery was fired

The sauna was complimented with a rock pool

The military started disassembly of its defence premises

The opening of the cannon bar: the covering of one of the cannons that belonged to the Söderarm battery. It has been placed on Torskär as a historic remembrance of the battery

The Swedish Maritime Administration put out the lantern that had assisted as lighthouse lamp since 1999. Now we’re hoping to have the original returned
